Second Battle of Ypres
The second battle of Ypres took place from April 22 to May 25, 1915. The Germans used poison gas for the first time on the Western Front, sending clouds of deadly chlorine over the Allied trenches. In all the chaos, Sir Arthur Currie showed his worth as an officer by calmly issuing commands from his brigade headquarters. Sir Arthur Currie's brigade played an essential role in holding the Allied position in the Second Battle of Ypres. After five weeks of fighting, the Germans ended the battle. The Allies had 60,000 casualties and the Germans had 35,000 casualties.
