After the War

Sir Sam Hughes, was removed from the Cabinet in 1916, but he continued to use his seat in the House of Commons to attack Currie's reputation. This began during the war, when Currie had denied Garnet Hughes, son of Sam Hughes, a combat post, believing Hughes would be a danger to the men in his command when under fire. Sir Arthur Currie fought back against the Hughes' and won a large court case in 1928. These strains due to personal attacks, took its toll on Sir Arthur Currie and he died in 1933 at the age of 57. Sir Arthur Currie’s wife, Lucy Chaworth-Musters, died in 1969 and lived to the age of 93.
