Passchendaele

The Canadian Corps lead by Sir Arthur Currie was ordered to the Passchendaele front on July 31st, 1917. After months of fighting, Passchendaele Ridge was still held by German troops so Sir Douglas Haig ordered the Canadians to go and obtain the ridge. Sir Arthur Currie did not want to go to the battle but Haig insisted. Sir Arthur Currie prepared cautiously for the fight and when the Canadians went to battle, the Germans killed hundreds of Canadian soldiers. Eventually, the Canadians were able to capture Passchendaele.
